As the new start of the school year draws near, the excitement of students and faculty rises. However, this year there’s a lot more to be excited about at Bishop Guilfoyle, other than just the fresh start.
This fall, BG is expanding its horizons academically – students will now have the opportunity to earn a liberal arts associate's degree while in high school, for the very first time at BG. Principal Donnelly and the rest of the administrative team are incredibly excited to start this new program, giving students a chance to get a head start on their future academic goals. Additionally, Donnelly says she expects to expand the usage of virtual education days, beyond their original purpose as a way to continue courses on snow days.
Assistant principal and athletic director Mike Cacciotti says there’s lots of excitement on the horizon for BG’s sports teams as well. “Kicking off the fall, our teams should be very competitive,” he said. “It’s always good to see. Football’s had a good run. Our girls soccer team has done well, as have our boys and girls basketball and girls volleyball. It’s always exciting to get back and see students get back into the swing of things, and see them grow not only athletically, but also as individuals.”
Moving ahead, the staff and students alike have high expectations for the school year, and everyone is confident these high expectations are attainable.
